Lois Kagan Mingus

Studied acting with Joseph Chaikin, Gene Frankel, and Davey Marlin-Jones and dance at the Harkness Dance Center, The New Dance Group Studio and Boston Conservatory. She was seen as Editor Swet in Elsa Lasker-Schüler’s I and I and Gilda in Walter Hasenclever’s Humanity with The Living Theatre, and performed with the improv company, Theatre of Dreams at Jan Hus Theater. She has appeared in John Turturo’s Illuminata and on TV in New York Undercover and The Rosie O’Donnell Show. She is a member of The Living Theatre since 1988 and performs regularly with DADAnewyork and the Wycherly Systers in New York venues including La MaMa, PS122, and Theater for the New City. This fall, Lois will premiere Livable World, Dying Breathing, a new collaborative work with Joanie Fritz-Zosike. Her poetry has appeared in the publication, Daughterspeak and her work, Refugee Camp Shtima, received Honorable Mention in the Lamia Ink International One Page Play Festival, performed at Chez LaRoe and published in Chez Chez magazine in January 2001. In 1998, she co-founded Action Racket Theatre, which has received a Carnegie Grant and support from the New York Stock Exchange. Lois is listed in Who’s Who in Entertainment in America.
