CABARET RE-VOLTAIRE III BEAUTIFUL ABSURDITIES |
Theater
for the New City Beautiful Absurdities features DADAnewyork's
fresh mounting of Jean Cocteau's The Wedding Breakfast,
a condemnation of war and a paean to peace. Also presented are works by
Kenneth Bernard (author of many avant-garde plays in collaboration
with Theatre of the Ridiculous director John Vaccaro), David
Dozer (co-host with Janet Coleman of WBAI's Cat Radio
Café and author/producer of Poisoned Arts),
artist/playwright Charles Mingus III, ZenDADA poet/scholar Valery Oisteanu,
the late great poet/performance artist Irving Wexler, and zRebecca
Krell, DADAnewyorks most prolific contributor. DADAnewyork
is joined by composer Julie Harting (recipient of the Boris and
Eda Rapaport Prize for String Quartet, founding member Forecast Music)
and flautist Michele Smith (Art Lillard's Heavenly Jazz Band; Les
Sylphides Flute Ensemble). Sculptural props are built by Charles Mingus
III and film maker, prop master and actor Mike Sullivan. Join those always-say-doodoo DADAs in March at Theater
